Description: Work off that extra serving of siu mai you had at Fortune or work up your your appetite beforehand by providing some much needed organizing and spring
cleaning at the Falls Church Community Services Council's food pantry. Help is greatly needed with inspecting and sorting canned/packaged food donations, wiping down shelves, and some filing. The Falls Church Community Services Council provides a variety of assistance to area residents through a network of volunteers from member churches in the Falls Church area.

The Organization of Chinese Americans, Northern Virginia Chapter (OCA-NOVA) Service Corps is a program to 1) provide a community service opportunity each and every month for volunteers, 2) promote the involvement of Asian-Pacific Americans in community service, and 3) enhance the perception of our community in mainstream American.
OCA-NOVA Service Corps volunteers have been giving back to the community for over 10 years! This will be OCA-NOVA Service Corps 122nd month of volunteer service.

The Vietnamese American Heritage Project : “Exit Saigon, Enter Little Saigon ”

The Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Program inaugurates the Smithsonian Vietnamese American Heritage Project with the opening exhibit, “Exit Saigon, Enter Little Saigon,” the first-ever Vietnamese American historical exhibit at the Smithsonian Institution. “Exit Saigon, Enter Little Saigon” tells the story of the Vietnamese American experience in America , from the significant influx of immigrants in 1975 to the present. By showcasing themes of challenges, contributions, and change, the exhibit emphasizes the vibrant diversity of this ethnic community.
The exhibit focuses on several core topics: the refugee exodus from Vietnam and entry into the United States ; adaptation and adjustment of Vietnamese to American life; ethnic communities and identities that formed from these new immigrants, as well as their contributions to America ; and hybrid creations that combine Vietnamese and American cultural elements, from fashion to food to film.
